The concept of Croydon Third City began in 2007 when visionary architect Will Alsop undertook a series of consultation workshops with local people and businesses. From this consultation he envisioned a plan to produce a city that can fully realise its potential as a successful commercial, residential and retail community. A city respected as a business centre and sought after as a place to work and live.
Now it's time for Croydon to move this vision forward. The regeneration of the town centre offers a real catalyst for change and the re-branded Croydon will emerge as a true third London city for the 21st century.
The changes are beginning right now with three major town centre improvement projects:
- Complete redesign of Wellesley Road and Park Lane
- A new East Croydon station and improved public areas
- Regeneration of West Croydon station and surrounding area
