Cabinet of 6 July 2009 endorsed the Jury recommendation that the authors of the submission 51877, the team led by OKRA Landscape Architects, supported by Peter Brett Associates, Urhahn Urban Design, Karakusevic Carson Architects, Soundings to be appointed, under the terms of the EU procurement rules, for the provision of design services for the implementation of the proposed concept of the regeneration of Wellesley Road and Park Lane. This team was recommended due to:
- Good ‘value for money’ design proposal with the lowest capital cost of the construction for the Council, potential for profit generation and reduction of maintenance costs through higher private sector involvement.
- Strong design response to transport needs and transport planning expertise.
- Sympathetic, incremental and interactive approach towards the project development and the area itself, with local involvement in every stage of the project life.
- Clarity and balance in the project management structure.
- Comprehensive and innovative approach toward sustainable design, vitality and sustainability of the scheme.
